In the spirit of Party unity, and confident that he will do a good job, I endorse Saul Anuzis for re-election as Chairman of the Michigan Republican State Committee and encourage my supporters to do the same. Saul and I agree there is much to be done—now is the time to move forward. Now is the time to unify. I am confident that is in the best interests of our party, and I am confident that together we will turn this blue state red in November of 2008. I am glad to endorse Saul Anuzis for a second term as State Chair.It took me a month to make any endorsement only because I needed to be convinced that we were going to do everything feasible to carry the state for the Repubican Presidential Nominee in 2008. During this month, I have talked to people from all over the state and reviewed a lot of data and analyses. My conclusion? Saul deserves a second term and represents our best hope of carrying the state for the Republican Presidential Nominee for the first time since 1988. He will spend the time and do the work that is needed. Saul is easily accessible to the grassroots and an effective chairman. He is concerned about all candidates--from the statewides to county commission. He is a tireless advocate and worker for our party. If there is any way you can use my support of you as a man, a husband and father, and chair of the party, feel free to do so. You know me. I could have written some clever words with my sometimes "smart mouth," but this morning I'm thinking of your talents and abilities and thought you should know how an old lady and old friend feels about your past and my hopes for your future and the future of the party because I just can't seem to separate them. Saul, I support your continued leadership of the party. The Michigan GOP made strides in my community, under your leadership, that the Republican Black Caucus can build on to support Republican candidates in the next election cycle. I look forward to working with you again. Having witnessed our party's Congressional losses throughout the country, I know we are most fortunate Saul put together a team which helped Michigan keep every one of its Republican U.S. House seats. You've got my complete support. You've gone out of your way to keep us all informed. From your daily newsletters with notes of interest, to pointing out articles of interest in neighboring cities to read. You're the first Blogging Chairman in the State! That in itself it a major accomplishment. I've known Saul Anuzis since l987 when he was 3rd Congressional District Chairman and I was the Issues Committee delegate. In my humble opinion, Saul has done a good job for the Michigan Republican Party for at least 20 years and will contiinue to do so when reelected as the Michigan State Republican Chairman. Please count on my continued support. You did a fine job. I think your efforts probably curbed what could have been a wider loss. Fantastic job over the past 2 years, I'm looking forward to working with you towards the many successes in 2008! Saul, you have done a sterling job as our party chair. I support you for whatever my support and endorsement is worth. Very few state parties around the country had the electronic media communications that we had from the party and you via your newsletter and the party blog. You set a standard for the rest of the country to emulate. Great job! Saul, you did a great job with the election. I am glad to see you want to stick with it. Even small village non-partisan republicans (me) lost! You have our support. I believe you've done an admirable job during difficult times and your dedication to keeping an information flow to the front lines has set a high water mark that few would be willing or able to match. I'm 100% behind you. I am impressed with the job you've done and hope to continue that progress. I have a suspicion that dems. are hoping that every Republican over-reacts to this and dismantles thier organizations in hopes that simply "new blood" will shake things up and have a positive outcome. As you know, this rarely works, and usually ends up setting the organizations (and party) back for at least two election cycles. We endorse you and what you've accomplished as chairman. We're especially impressed by your leadership and focus on the grassroots. I think you have done a great job as chairman of the Michigan Republican Party. I enjoyed getting regular updates about what was going on without having to look for it all myself. Absolutely, you are the man for the job. I sent your first e-mail on to my address group this morning saying what an outstanding job you have done in leadership. You have our support - hands down - you're the best chair we've ever had. I think you’ve been a great chairman and am ready to help out in your campaign. Let me know what I can do to help. I am a "grass roots" Republican working for the party in Washtenaw county. You have my support. I'm 100% behind you...while I've had some minor disagreements with a few things you've done and a few positions you've taken, who doesn't disagree with someone sometimes? You've done an excellent job in energizing the base. My biggest concern is a movement within our party of folks leaving it over a perceived lack of conservatism. I presume that this is more an issue coming from the Federal level, and it just so happens that the folks in our State have a more independent streak, so it's being noticeable here...but that's just my on-the-ground opinion from what I know and hear. I'm just a little guy in a little county, but you can count on my support. You have done a great job and should continue on to build the Michigan Republican Party back up. Nothing could have stopped what happened to our nation last night. You have my continued support. I would support you as state party chairman for another term. I do not know what more you could have done as chairman in this last election.
Further, your actions and those of the party to try to get Dick DeVos elected showed that at least we were in the game this year. I recall four years back when we were first saddled with "Jenny G" -- it seemed that the Posthumus campaign and the party folded up the tent months early. You have done an exemplary job as Chair of the Michigan Republican Party. What has impressed me the most is your ability to present a balanced Republican vision to both Party members and the press. The party has to include all people that agree on the Republican vision while understanding that not all Republicans are going to agree on every issue. But we can work together for the betterment of our State and Party. I am proud of the way you have handled this party. You have my support and endorsement. Whatever I can do to help, don't hesitate to call!! You have no clue who I am. However I have been part of the MI GOP for years on the grassroots side. I have run for county commissioner in 1994 and have help many local GOP candidates. Served as PCT. Delegate etc...YOU HAVE MY SUPPORT!. I think you have done an awesome job with leading this party. You have held this party together and put together a great get out the vote program. We did hold on onto the Senate and Re-elected our SOS and AG. I have never seen such a get out to vote sinec I have been involved in politics and I have been involved since 1986. GOOD JOB... KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.and most of all THANK YOU for all your hard work! When you were first elected Chairman, I had no idea who you were and didn't know what to expect. I think you have done a fantastic job - your daily emails, dollar a day visits with Ken Mehlman, and your dedication to the Party are to be commended. They would like nothing more than for him to be devoured by his own people. I've been a devout, conservative Republican for the last 32 years and I have never been a part of such a well organized, well orchestrated campaign as this last. Your capacity for work is nothing short of awesome and your efforts at communications with the base Herculean. I could not possibly conceive how this job could have been done any better. I think the campaign waged under Mr. Anunzis' leadership was superb. I cannot remember anyone infusing more energy or effort into a campaign. It is a sad fact that one can do everything right, and still lose. This is what happened to us in Michigan. We did our best, and there were few, if any, false steps. Anti-Republican sentiment, fueled by anti-Republican media at the national level vexed us. This is no reflection on Mr. Anunzis. His grassroots approach to political campaigns is right on! Always remember, all politics are local. Recognizing this fact will enable Republicans to ultimately prevail. Saul has proven to us that he is a leader of great capabilities and we need him for the future.....Saul is what Michigan Republicans need. I like the changes that you and your team at State Party have made and continue to make to help bring Michigan Republicans up to date. It is clear that we can no longer do what we have always done. His efforts were exemplary. He should be the MIGOP Chairman at least through the next election cycle. Some very impressive work came from the MI GOP in 2006. It just was a bad year to run as a Republican. Saul and his team were superb. The communication, strategy and execution of the GOP campaigns were diabolical. In a good year we'd have "mowed em' down"! We need Saul's leadership in the future. Saul, it was a pleasure meeting you at the Flint Victory Center prior to the 2006 election, and a privilege to serve the Great State of Michigan on the Republican Party. You have my undying support in your efforts to retain the Chair of the Michigan Republican Party. The countless hours you labored and the unprecedented commitment with which you served to the promote the success of this Great State through propagating traditional American and moral values makes you more than worthy of being re-elected as Chairman for the Michigan Republican Party. He spouts volumes of numbers without any notes. His energy level is infectious and encouraging to the masses. We are blessed to have Saul Anuzis as our State Party Chairman. We have never had a State Party Chairman visit our county as much as Saul. Communications are plentiful with email, phone calls and the like. Saul Anuzis is a true leader who cares about all factions of the Republican Party. Together we are mighty. Divided we fail. While I have known Saul for a short time, I have had several conversations about the party, and where we are, and should be going, and I do believe that Saul is honest and "tells it like it is". I like that in a person. When it comes to 'being up front' there he is. Saul, you have my endorsement. Now let's ALL roll up our sleeves and get some work done. It’s a difficult job no matter who is handling it. Saul never gave up nor tired. I would request that the entire Republican Party reconsider calling secure voters as many as three or four times a day as we experienced. Some Republican friends commented they felt abused by sometimes calls separated by a few hours. We need the call but we need to be sure they do not damage but help. Saul is the sort of responsive, insightful person to make such adjustments and to remain creative. He has my support. As a Con Con delegate and a former member of the House of Representatives during George Romney's term. I know the importance of our State Chairman and feel Saul did a great job in helping our party hold on. We must take more moderate positions to attract the independent voters. I think Saul has done an outstanding job building the Michigan Republican Party and laying the foundation for future growth within the MGOP. He should definitely continue leading us into the future. Saul has the heart and passion for the Party that we need at this time. Foremost, he is a high integrity individual. I am convinced that we will prosper under his leadership for the next 2 years. Of course there were, but now is not the time to train another new Chairman. Now is the time for our leadership to assess what went right and/or wrong in this election and what we can do better in order to elect a Republican President and win back the U.S. Congress and the State House in 2008. Saul hired an ethnic coalition director, hosted an outreach meeting at the last State Convention, help organize Cinco De Mayo and Juneteenth Events across Michigan, and helped support and recruit minority candidates to run for public office. Saul has committed to continue our Ethnic outreach and develop new ideas to start bringing home Black Americans and Hispanics to the party of Abraham Lincoln. I have never been so informed on the issues, the happenings and the grassroots needs of the election as I have been with Mr. Anuzis. I feel he has worked tirelessly for the state of Michigan and the Republican Party. Why change something that is not broken. I completely support Saul Anuzis as Michigan's State Party Chair. Saul provided the best leadership possible during this campaign and I think he has and will continue to provide the best oversight over the party through the next two years. It was truly a joy to work with him. Saul is the type of leader this state desperately needs in upcoming battle to take back our government. He has all the necessary tools and qualities to bring our party up to the next level. Having seen Saul working first hand I can attest he is definitely the relentless fighter we need during these difficult times.
