A Message From
National Committeewoman Holly Hughes

Hi All,

My 2 cents and I will try to be short. These elections go in cycles historically. A lot of good people lost last week and a lot of good people won. We will live to fight another day. Don't give up the ship!

We should and will evaluate what happened, why it happened and make appropriate changes. But, the fact remains the Dems turned out more votes than we did. Voter turnout was higher than most off-year elections. Please know that discussions are happening statewide, nationally, and obviously locally and rest assured that everyone's input is welcomed. Call me at anytime. As my father says, "When the going gets tough the tough get going!" I still believe, and I am not giving up.

To everyone, thanks for all of your hard work! I do appreciate your efforts. You are very special people because you have chosen to try to make a difference! That makes you number one in my book. We do this because we care about our families, our community and our country. Let's not lose sight of the goal line!

There has been a lot of talk about the need to change leadership in the State Party since election day; the emotions have been running high. Understandably so - we were thoroughly thrashed. But let's not throw the baby out with the bath water. We did a lot of good things and to a very large extent were caught up in National Politics. I do want to thank Dave Dishaw for having the courage to point out where he believes we need to improve and his willingness to solve the issues with Saul by sitting down and talking through our challenges. I also want to thank Saul Anuzis for his willingness to listen to dissent and make the necessary changes so that we can work towards our goal of electing Republicans.

Saul has done some things well, including being a good fundraiser, a good spokesman, and he is great at returning phone calls and e-mails. I think he can recognize the problems by listening and learning from our mistakes and work towards fixing them. I appreciate the recognition during the campaign by our leadership that we can not have a cookie cutter plan for each county because we are all different. During the campaign I appreciated Saul making adjustments when I called him to make him aware that certain campaign strategies would not work for certain counties and why they wouldn't. Saul responded and made the necessary adjustments given the resources. There were mistakes made during the campaign and there is room for improvement; there always is. Saul acknowledges this and has a willingness to address it. I have worked with a lot of state chairman over the years and I must say that Saul has the right attitude to make things happen. I believe that he has done a good job under difficult circumstances in the country and therefore I support his re-election. We can do this together.

Let's put our heads together, keep talking and we will make a difference!

Sincerely,

Holly
